The Totals Are Screaming. The Moneylines Are Quiet.

No moneyline edges cleared the bar Friday, but the model found four totals worth playing — led by a Toronto-Philly over that's nearly 20 points off the posted line. Here's the full read on a 15-game slate.

00 · THE READ

Fifteen games on a Friday slate is a lot of baseball. It's also a lot of noise to sort through before you find the signal. Tonight, the signal is pretty clear: the model doesn't love any side at the current prices, but it thinks the books are dramatically underpricing run totals in four matchups — and in one case, by nearly 20 percentage points of edge.

The headliner is Toronto at Philadelphia. Citizens Bank Park, 91 degrees, 14 miles per hour blowing out to center field. The market posted 7.75. The model lands at 10.9 and gives the over a 70.1 percent probability. That's the kind of gap you don't see every day. The weather angle isn't incidental here — it's load-bearing. We'll get into it. For now, know that the totals card is the story tonight, and it's a legitimate one.

01 · MODEL vs MARKET

Moneylines: Nothing cleared the bar. Our threshold is five percentage points of edge over the market implied probability, and no side got there tonight. That's an honest no-play on sides, and we're not going to dress it up.

Totals: Four games cleared the 10-point edge threshold, and they all lean the same direction.

  • TOR @ PHI — Over 7.75 | Model total: 10.9 | Over probability: 70.1% | Edge: +19.9 pp. The single sharpest number on the board tonight.
  • OAK @ BOS — Over 8.5 | Model total: 11.0 | Over probability: 63.2% | Edge: +14.3 pp.
  • CIN @ WSH — Over 9.0 | Model total: 11.9 | Over probability: 61.3% | Edge: +12.4 pp.
  • COL @ STL — Over 8.5 | Model total: 10.9 | Over probability: 62.3% | Edge: +11.1 pp.

Four overs, all clearing the bar comfortably. When the model clusters like this — same direction, multiple games — it's worth noting that these aren't four independent predictions. Hot summer nights, wind blowing out, and books that may have set early lines before weather data fully settled can explain a lot of it. The edge is real; the concentration is something to be aware of.

02 · THE CARD

The card tonight is totals only. Four plays, all overs. In descending order of edge:

  1. TOR @ PHI Over 7.75 — the strongest signal on the slate at +19.9 pp of edge. Citizens Bank, 91 degrees, wind out. Play it.
  2. OAK @ BOS Over 8.5 — +14.3 pp. Fenway, hot, and a matchup where the model sees 11 runs. The DFS stack angle here is substantial — more on that below.
  3. CIN @ WSH Over 9.0 — +12.4 pp. The posted line is already 9, so the book isn't exactly selling defense here. The model still thinks it's short by nearly three runs.
  4. COL @ STL Over 8.5 — +11.1 pp. The Rockies travel well in the run-scoring sense — they tend to play high-scoring games even away from Denver.

No sides. No moneylines. If the card feels short, that's because it is — and that's fine. A focused, honest card beats a padded one every time.

03 · DFS CORE

Lineups are confirmed and posted — no projections in play here, everything below is locked. The value board is heavily concentrated on two games: BOS vs OAK and NYY vs ATL. That's not a coincidence. Those are also the two games where the model sees the most run-scoring upside, and where the pitching matchups favor hitters.

Payton Tolle is the clear pitcher-one on the slate — 25.1 projected points at $9,000, with a 74.6% win probability and nearly 9.7 expected strikeouts across 5.3 innings. He's expensive but worth it if you're building around the BOS game stack. Tyler Phillips at $6,200 is the savings option with real upside — 62.1% win probability and a $2,800 discount versus Tolle. Max Fried at $8,700 is interesting in the GPP sense; 53.6% win probability in a tougher environment, but 5.7 projected innings and a legitimate strikeout ceiling.

On the hitting side, Nick Sogard at $3,100 is the cleanest value play on the board — 11.1 projected points, a ceiling of 20, 3.6x value per $1K against Jack Perkins. Masataka Yoshida at $3,000 and Caleb Durbin at $3,600 both bring strong floors (both at 4-point floor minimum) in the same BOS stack. For the minimum-price contrarian play, Austin Wells at $2,100 is 3.7x value — the best rate on the board — with a 17-point ceiling against Tyler Mahle.

04 · THE STACK

The optimizer build is still filling in as the remaining slate games get priced — it finalizes at lock. But the top stacks are clear enough to work with now.

The BOS four-bat stack against OAK is the value anchor of the slate: $16,000 in salary, 45.5 projected points, and an 82-point ceiling — the highest ceiling of any stack listed. Fenway is hot tonight (89.7 degrees, wind out), and Jack Perkins is the kind of arm that a deep lineup can punish multiple times through the order. The run environment factor of 1.1 is modest compared to some of the other parks tonight, but the matchup quality more than compensates. You're getting premium ceiling at a salary that leaves room to maneuver.

The NYY four-bat stack at $19,700 carries a nearly identical ceiling (81 points) but costs $3,700 more. The tradeoff: Yankee Stadium tonight has 22 mph blowing out to center and an HR factor of 1.6 — one of the highest run environments on the slate. If you're in a GPP and want the ball-in-the-air explosion game, the NYY-ATL environment is your best argument. Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice are the names to watch at the top of that ceiling stack.

05 · WEATHER & PARKS

Tonight's weather picture is the most interesting part of the slate, and it explains a lot of why the totals model is running so hot relative to the posted lines.

The two parks that move the needle most: Philadelphia and Yankee Stadium. Citizens Bank is sitting at 91.4 degrees with 14 mph blowing out to center — an HR factor of 1.6 and a runs factor of 1.2. That's the environment behind the biggest edge on the board (TOR @ PHI, +19.9 pp). The combination of an already hitter-friendly park, summer heat expanding the air, and a meaningful wind out is about as favorable a condition for run-scoring as you'll find outside of Coors Field on a July afternoon.

Yankee Stadium is the other one. Seventy-five degrees is comfortable, but 22 mph out to center is legitimately significant — the same 1.6 HR factor as Philly, with a slightly more forgiving temperature. In a game where Max Fried and Tyler Mahle are squaring off (not exactly a pitcher's duel in terms of projected run suppression), that wind matters.

Washington and St. Louis are both in the 88–91 degree range with modest wind factors. Still elevated run environments, which supports the CIN @ WSH and COL @ STL overs on the card.

06 · THE BOTTOM LINE

Two angles that are doing the most work tonight:

1. TOR @ PHI Over 7.75. Nearly 20 points of edge is as loud as this model gets. Citizens Bank, 91 degrees, wind out, posted line nearly three runs below the model total. If you're only playing one total tonight, this is the one.

2. The BOS stack against Jack Perkins at Fenway. Sogard, Yoshida, Durbin, Abreu, Rogers — five confirmed hitters with strong floors, genuine ceilings, and favorable salaries in a game where the model projects 11 runs. Whether you're in cash or GPP, this is the construction anchor of the slate. Pair it with Tolle on the mound for full game exposure if your salary allows.

That's the card. Fifteen games, four totals that cleared the bar, zero moneylines — and a DFS slate with a clear value spine if you know where to look. See you on the other side of first pitch.
