NFL GAME PREVIEW
Sunday nightenough football for both offenses?
Detroit–Carolina at 8:20 p.m. ET. A fast opponent, concentrated Lions usage and a Showdown build that tells a coherent story.

The 60-second read
- DET–CAR Over 51.5 (-102) · Carolina supplies the pace. Detroit supplies the concentrated touches.
- Jared Goff Over 257.5 passing yards (-112)

Carolina supplies the pace. Detroit supplies the concentrated touches.
Sunday night gives us a much cleaner reason to consider scoring than a famous quarterback pairing. Carolina runs a neutral-situation play every 29 seconds, the fastest rate in StatRankings’ Week 4 report. Both teams average 65.7 plays per game, and both defenses have allowed more than 0.40 points per play. There is a plausible path to sustained possessions on both sides.
Detroit’s work is concentrated where you want it. Amon-Ra St. Brown has a 32.1% target share and nine red-zone targets. Jahmyr Gibbs has 18 red-zone carries, seven inside the five and 90% of Detroit’s running-back red-zone carries. A Lions touchdown can reach either of them through several routes. The difficult Showdown decision is which ceiling you want to pay 1.5 times for at Captain.
Carolina’s tight ends are the less obvious part of the game. Detroit has faced 39 tight-end targets, with 33.6% of opponent targets going to the position. Darren Waller has a 50.8% route rate and Tommy Tremble 38.6%, so that opportunity is split rather than guaranteed to one player. Tetairoa McMillan’s 91.7% route participation is the stronger full-time foundation. Detroit is my winner call; the Over is a research lean, with the price already requiring both offenses to do their part.

Jared Goff Over 257.5 passing yards (-112)
Carolina’s 29-second neutral pace and both teams’ 65.7 plays per game make sustained possessions plausible. St. Brown and LaPorta give Goff established routes rather than a speculative replacement target tree. Arcline projects 282.2 yards against 257.5. Detroit finishing drives through Gibbs instead is the clearest way this misses.
The Showdown construction
A St. Brown Captain lineup should usually include Goff because a big receiving score supplies points to both. A Gibbs Captain lineup can win through rushing scores and does not require two Detroit pass catchers. For a competitive-game build, bring back Young with McMillan or one carefully selected tight end. Do not call a cheap tight end leverage without checking his ownership and route share.

Illustrative six-player Showdown lineup · DraftKings slate 154098 · $50,000 used · $0 remaining. Ownership is a model estimate for this slate, not verified contest ownership or the ownership of the stack.
This Gibbs-Captain example spends the full $50,000 and keeps both quarterbacks, but Metchie and Tremble are thin salary-saving roles. That is the tradeoff—not a claim that they are the two best Carolina receivers. If their participation is not secure, change the Captain or a spend-up rather than force both into the lineup.
