NFL GAME PREVIEW

Sunday 1 PMNine games. Start with the roles.

The early window has three receiving opportunities I like and a Tennessee upset case. The common thread is opportunity: who gets the useful routes, who gets the carries that matter, and which injuries change the plan.

The 60-second card

Four individual matchup leans, not a parlay. Full-game quotes: September 26, 11:53 a.m. ET. Check the available line before entry. Winner calls below are separate from these priced selections.

Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins

Kansas City Chiefs at Miami Dolphins matchup artwork

Kelce does not need a vintage afternoon. He needs five catches.

Miami Dolphins +10 · Total 45.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

Travis Kelce over 4.5 catches -105
Winner call: Kansas City.

Miami has generated pressure on just 11.9% of opposing dropbacks. Give Patrick Mahomes time against a defense playing zone on 67.3% of its snaps and the middle of the field becomes the first place I look. Travis Kelce has earned a target on 32.3% of his zone routes in the charted sample. That is why I lean over 4.5 catches at -105.

Kelce has 16 targets through two games. His catches have swung from three to nine, which is a useful reminder that five is a bet, not a floor. The appeal is the route to the result: find space, move the chains, do it again. He does not need a touchdown or a 40-yard reception.

Kansas City is my winner, but a ten-point spread asks a different question. The Chiefs could spend a substantial part of the second half running the ball. Left tackle Josh Simmons is also out, so Miami’s poor pressure rate is not permission to assume a perfect pocket. I prefer the receiving lean to paying for a comfortable Chiefs margin.

DraftKings construction

Patrick Mahomes + Travis Kelce is the simple stack. De’Von Achane is a possible Miami return if your lineup assumes the Dolphins stay involved through the passing game. A Chiefs blowout build does not need that return; decide which game you are actually building for.

What changes the read: Kansas City gets ahead early enough to stop throwing, or its replacement protection gives Miami a route back into the game.

Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers

Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers matchup artwork

Chase Brown can make Pittsburgh defend the whole field.

Pittsburgh Steelers +3.5 · Total 42.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

Chase Brown over 3.5 catches +102
Winner call: Cincinnati.

Everyone knows what Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins can do outside. The more interesting question is what happens underneath when Pittsburgh tries to keep those throws in front of it. The Steelers have played zone on 84.3% of defensive snaps; Brown has drawn a target on 40% of his routes against zone in the early charting. That is the connection behind my lean to Brown over 3.5 catches at +102.

Pittsburgh has also allowed 35% of opposing targets to running backs. That comes from only 40 targets faced, so I would not turn it into a season-long label. It is still useful when it points in the same direction as Brown’s receiving role. Four catches can come from ordinary chain-moving throws; the bet does not require him to break a long run.

Cincinnati is my winner, but I am passing on laying 3.5. Pittsburgh has protected its quarterback better so far, and the Bengals’ defensive-front injuries make an easy road win a poor assumption. Brown’s receiving involvement is the cleaner way to express this matchup than needing Cincinnati to win by more than a field goal.

DraftKings construction

Joe Burrow + Ja’Marr Chase is the direct passing stack. Brown can replace a receiver in a different build if you are specifically betting on checkdowns and receiving scores. Do not mistake two Bengals in a lineup for two independent sources of upside.

What changes the read: Pittsburgh changes its coverage mix, or Cincinnati controls the game on the ground and Brown’s receiving work shrinks.

Weather: 68°F · 12 mph wind · 0 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period.

Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills

Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills matchup artwork

Buffalo’s receiver injuries bring Kincaid into focus.

Buffalo Bills -7 · Total 50.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

Dalton Kincaid over 4.5 catches -101
Winner call: Buffalo.

Josh Allen is the obvious attraction. The useful decision is which part of his offense to buy. Dalton Kincaid has averaged seven targets through two games, and the Chargers have allowed 27.3% of opposing targets to tight ends. With DJ Moore and Keon Coleman both questionable in the updated depth-chart feed, Kincaid over 4.5 catches at -101 is my receiving lean.

I am not counting either receiver as out. Kincaid’s existing usage supports the case before an absence; a confirmed absence would change the distribution, not create the argument from nothing. If both receivers are unrestricted and Kincaid’s price gets materially worse, I would reassess rather than chase the original headline.

Buffalo is my winner. The Chargers have allowed pressure on 37.9% of dropbacks and have offensive-line absences, while Buffalo has generated pressure on 37.2%. That makes a Herbert comeback less comfortable than the high game total suggests. Still, Buffalo’s own defensive-front injuries offer the Chargers a running-game escape, so I am leaving the seven-point spread alone.

DraftKings construction

Josh Allen + Dalton Kincaid, with Ladd McConkey returning from Los Angeles, is a coherent competitive-game stack. McConkey’s slot work and zone target rate give him a different route to production than hoping for repeated deep completions behind a compromised line.

What changes the read: Buffalo’s receivers take back a larger share, or a Bills lead redirects the second half toward James Cook.

Weather: 63°F · 13 mph wind · 0 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period.

Tennessee Titans at New York Giants

Tennessee Titans at New York Giants matchup artwork

Tennessee has a ground-level route to the upset.

New York Giants -2.5 · Total 37.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

Titans +2.5 -110
Winner call: Tennessee.

The Giants have allowed 5.62 yards per running-back carry through two games. StatRankings gives Tennessee the second-best rushing matchup on this slate. In a game with a low total, that is a practical path to an upset: stay ahead of the chains, keep the other offense waiting and avoid asking Cam Ward to solve every third down himself.

New York is starting Jameis Winston with Jaxson Dart on injured reserve. That changes the offense enough that I would not transplant the first two weeks’ player forecasts. It also increases the range of outcomes. Winston can create throws that keep the Giants alive, but a quarterback transition behind a line that has allowed pressure on 34.3% of dropbacks is not a tidy projection.

I lean Tennessee +2.5 at -110 and pick the Titans to win. The wind forecast is around 15 mph with rain in the kickoff period, which makes the rushing matchup more relevant without automatically making the Under a bet. At 37.5, the total already leaves little room for a defensive score or a short field. I am passing on it.

DraftKings construction

Tony Pollard is the first Tennessee player to examine, particularly if Tyjae Spears’ ankle limits his availability. Do not force a full passing stack into this game. Isaiah Likely’s nine targets per game are worth monitoring on the Giants, but Winston’s distribution still needs to be observed.

What changes the read: Winston generates explosive passes against a Tennessee defense with little early pressure, or the Titans fail to exploit the run matchup.

Weather: 62°F · 15 mph wind · 0.7 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period.

Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns

Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns matchup artwork

Carolina wants to throw. Cleveland wants Bryce Young to hurry.

Cleveland Browns +2.5 · Total 42.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

No priced bet selected
Winner call: Carolina.

The temptation is to see Cleveland’s pass rush and stop there. It has pressured opponents on 47% of dropbacks through two weeks, the best rate in the league. But the other half of this matchup matters just as much: Cleveland’s own offense has allowed pressure on 50.8% of its dropbacks. Carolina does not need a flawless afternoon from Bryce Young if the Browns keep putting their own offense behind schedule.

Carolina has played faster and leaned toward the pass. Cleveland has played man coverage on 55.7% of its defensive snaps. That puts the Panthers’ receivers in individual contests rather than simply asking them to settle between zone defenders. With Jalen Coker and Xavier Legette carrying injury questions, I would rather choose Carolina to win than pretend I know exactly how its targets will divide.

My winner is Carolina; the spread is a pass at Panthers -2.5. Cleveland’s rush is a credible upset mechanism, particularly if Carolina loses receiving options. Chuba Hubbard offers a different DFS route to a Panthers win: he has six red-zone carries through two games, but only half of the team’s running-back carries there. That is involvement, not a monopoly on touchdowns.

DraftKings construction

Bryce Young + Tetairoa McMillan is the passing-game construction to examine if the other receivers remain limited. Confirm McMillan’s availability and the final receiving group before using it; do not automatically add a Cleveland player just to make the stack symmetrical.

What changes the read: Cleveland turns pressure into short fields, or Carolina’s receiver availability deteriorates.

Weather: 65°F · 14 mph wind · 0 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period.

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts matchup artwork

Without Nico Collins, Houston’s targets need a second look.

Indianapolis Colts +1.5 · Total 42.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

No priced bet selected
Winner call: Indianapolis.

Dalton Schultz has averaged 11 targets over Houston’s first two games. That number jumps off the page, but this opponent asks a different question. Indianapolis has played man on 48.7% of defensive snaps. In the early coverage splits, Xavier Hutchinson has earned targets on 34% of his routes against man; Schultz is at 12%. Recent volume alone is not enough reason to chase Schultz over 5.5 catches.

Nico Collins is now listed out with a hamstring injury in Saturday’s depth-chart update. Hutchinson is the receiver I want to examine first: he has 80 routes and 7.5 targets per game in the usage sample. That does not mean every missing Collins target becomes a Hutchinson target. It means his existing participation and this particular coverage matchup make more sense together than a generic ‘next man up’ bump.

My narrow winner call is Indianapolis, with no spread bet. Jonathan Taylor has all five of the Colts’ running-back carries inside the five and 10 red-zone carries through two games. That gives Indianapolis a clear finishing plan. Houston’s faster pace and better early protection can overturn the call if the replacement receivers win quickly.

DraftKings construction

C.J. Stroud + Xavier Hutchinson with Jonathan Taylor on the other side expresses a competitive game with concentrated Colts scoring. It is a game-script construction, not a verified low-ownership stack. Houston is also missing guard Ed Ingram; replacement receiving opportunity does not remove the protection problem.

What changes the read: Houston’s passing volume overwhelms Indianapolis, with Hutchinson and the other replacements winning quickly.

Weather: 68°F · 5 mph wind · 0 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period outdoors; roof decision not yet confirmed.

New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars

New England Patriots at Jacksonville Jaguars matchup artwork

Parker Washington’s role is real. The pace is the catch.

Jacksonville Jaguars -3 · Total 46.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

No priced bet selected
Winner call: Jacksonville.

Nine targets a game make Parker Washington impossible to ignore. He has earned them on only 43 routes across two games, and his target rate against man is 43%. New England has played man on 45.7% of defensive snaps. There is a genuine matchup argument here; it does not depend on attaching ‘breakout’ to his name.

The reason I am not automatically taking over 66.5 receiving yards is Jacksonville’s tempo. At 33.8 seconds per play, it has been the slowest offense in the league. New England has also limited production from the slot in the early sample. Washington’s opportunity is attractive, but a small passing pie can still leave a good player short of a demanding line.

Jacksonville is my winner, with the spread and total both passes. Its pass rush has improved to a 36.9% pressure rate, and New England is without A.J. Brown and Mike Onwenu on injured reserve. The opposing case is Drake Maye extending plays and forcing Jacksonville out of its preferred, slower game. That is the version in which the passing stacks become much more interesting.

DraftKings construction

Trevor Lawrence + Parker Washington is the concentrated Jaguars stack. Use Rhamondre Stevenson as a possible New England return only if you expect receiving work to keep him involved; his four targets per game matter more to that construction than the running-back label.

What changes the read: A slow, run-heavy game leaves Washington with a strong share of too few routes.

Weather: 80°F · 3 mph wind · 0 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period.

New York Jets at Detroit Lions

New York Jets at Detroit Lions matchup artwork

Detroit can win this game through Gibbs, not just Goff.

Detroit Lions -6.5 · Total 48.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

No priced bet selected
Winner call: Detroit.

Jahmyr Gibbs has handled all five of Detroit’s running-back carries inside the five and 11 of 13 in the red zone. Add David Onyemata’s absence from the Jets’ defensive interior and the Lions have a clear way to turn good field position into touchdowns. That is the strongest argument for Detroit, rather than simply assuming Jared Goff will throw all afternoon.

The Jets have protected well: pressure allowed on 18.9% of dropbacks. Detroit has also surrendered explosive gains on 13.2% of plays, near the bottom of the early rankings. Those two facts give New York a plausible way to stay in contact. Detroit’s pace can pull the Jets into a more active game, but it cannot guarantee that the Lions get every useful possession.

Detroit is my winner; I am passing on -6.5 at -120. Detroit is missing guard Ben Bartch, so the depth of that line still matters to both Goff and Gibbs. In DFS, Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 13.5 targets per game make him the natural passing-stack partner. Gibbs belongs in a separate version built around Detroit finishing drives on the ground.

DraftKings construction

Jared Goff + Amon-Ra St. Brown with Garrett Wilson on the other side is the passing-led construction. Gibbs + Lions defense expresses a different outcome: Detroit controls field position and converts near the goal line. Avoid treating those scripts as interchangeable.

What changes the read: The Jets’ protection holds up and Detroit’s vulnerable explosive-play defense makes this a one-score game.

Weather: Indoors. Outdoor wind and rain are not field conditions.

Seattle Seahawks at Washington Commanders

Seattle Seahawks at Washington Commanders matchup artwork

Washington’s quarterback change rewrites the passing forecast.

Washington Commanders +7.5 · Total 40.5 · DraftKings snapshot · 1 p.m. ET

No priced bet selected
Winner call: Seattle.

This is not a Jayden Daniels matchup. With Daniels out, Marcus Mariota takes over, and Washington’s previous passing volume cannot simply be carried forward. The Commanders had allowed pressure on 43.2% of dropbacks. Seattle has allowed explosive gains on only 3.5% of plays. That combination asks the replacement quarterback to sustain drives without many easy shortcuts. Seattle is also missing safeties Julian Love and Ty Okada, an important counterweight to that strong defensive start.

Seattle’s best receiving connection is Jaxon Smith-Njigba against Washington’s zone-heavy defense. He has drawn targets on 52% of his zone routes in the early charting, while Washington has played zone on 83.6% of defensive snaps. The complication is volume: Seattle has been one of the slowest offenses and has leaned heavily toward the run. A tremendous target share is not the same thing as unlimited targets.

Seattle is my winner, but I am passing on the 7.5-point spread. The forecast brings roughly 17 mph wind, and Seattle does not need a high-volume passing afternoon to win. Washington’s backfield is also a genuine split: Rachaad White and Jacory Croskey-Merritt each had 13 touches last week. Do not turn either player into a workhorse because the starting quarterback is missing.

DraftKings construction

Sam Darnold + Jaxon Smith-Njigba is the concentrated Seattle pairing if you expect efficient passing scores. Keep it distinct from a run-heavy Seahawks build. A Washington return is optional, especially with a new quarterback and meaningful wind in the forecast.

What changes the read: Mariota avoids negative plays and Washington keeps the game short enough that Seattle never separates.

Weather: 64°F · 17 mph wind · 0.2 mm rain in the 1-hour forecast period.

The way I’d use this slate

The early card starts with role-driven receiving bets. Keep the three catch props separate from the Titans spread: they are four individual opinions, not a reason to turn them into a parlay.
