GAME PREVIEW
Giants at Rams: Nacua’s Status Is the Whole Board
Los Angeles is the market favorite at SoFi. Everything else — Adams, Showdown Captain, even how Dart has to play — hangs on whether Puka suits up.

THE READ
Monday night in Inglewood is simple on the surface and messy underneath. The market already made its call: Rams about 72% to win, −6.5, total 47.5 across seven books. That is their baseline, not ours. We are not publishing a side or a total.
The football question that actually rearranges the night: does Puka Nacua play? Hip injury, missed Friday and Saturday, questionable into game day. StatRankings still lists him as the Rams’ X starter with that designation. If he is in, Los Angeles keeps its first look in the passing game. If he is out, Davante Adams inherits a different job — and the Showdown Captain decision flips with him.
HOW THIS GAME SHOULD FEEL
Sean McVay still runs the Rams with Nate Scheelhaase coordinating the offense and Chris Shula the defense. Across the field, John Harbaugh’s Giants put Matt Nagy on offense and Dennard Wilson on defense. Different rooms, same basic night if the favorite stays on schedule: run the ball, keep Jaxson Dart from turning this into a track meet.
Early StatRankings (as of Sept. 21) say both teams are living in the ground game when the score is close. In neutral script, the Rams pass on about 46% of snaps and the Giants on about 45% — both well below the league’s mid-50s. That is the shape of a mid-40s total if Los Angeles controls the clock.
The twist: New York’s early tape has been cleaner than the favorite’s. Giants offense sits near the top of the league in EPA per play so far; the Rams have been underwater, especially through the air. Small sample — one week of football will do that — but it is why this does not feel like a blowout machine on the chalkboard. Nagy is also leaning into play-action (top-three early rate). McVay’s group is using it less than they did a year ago.
Dart brings a real ceiling on the ground and through the air. He also brings a floor. Young quarterback, road favorite’s house, thin secondary help on his own side if Banks and McFadden are limited. Expect him to have answers; do not expect him to solve every drive.
WEATHER & WHO’S HURTING
SoFi is under a canopy. About 72°F, light wind, no rain. Weather is not a story. The injury report is.
If Nacua sits: Adams becomes Stafford’s first outside look, Kyren stays the back, and Parkinson / whoever is healthy in the slot inherits the leftover routes. Whittington is already doubtful with a quad, so Los Angeles does not have a clean third receiver waiting behind that. That is the path where Adams’s yardage lean dies and Showdown Captains flip toward Adams or Stafford.
If Nacua plays: the Rams keep their usual hierarchy — Puka first, Adams second — and the game stays closer to the market’s mid-40s script.
Giants injuries cut the other way. Adebo is on IR. Banks (calf) and McFadden (neck) are questionable. If either secondary piece is limited, Adams and Nabers both get cleaner air. Andrew Thomas was limited with an ankle; if the left tackle is compromised, Dart’s pocket gets shorter and the checkdowns — Skattebo, Likely — matter more. Nabers himself is not on a game-status list.
StatRankings’ depth chart still has Skattebo as RB1, Nabers and Mooney as the featured receivers, Likely as the starting tight end. Our Showdown pool (draft group 153449) already prices the mess: Nacua top projection if active, Whittington out of the buildable pool, only Stafford and Dart at quarterback.
WHO GETS THE BALL
Ignore the season rankings for a second and look at who Stafford and Dart are actually looking for — and how the injury list rewrites that.
Rams, Nacua in: he is Stafford’s first read (about half his targets come as the first look; roughly a third of team targets overall). Adams stays involved at about one in five targets. That split is why Adams under 66.5 has a premise tonight.
Rams, Nacua out: Adams absorbs the first-read job. Do not fade his yards in that world. Parkinson becomes the cheap route piece; Kyren’s receiving work can tick up if Stafford needs a safety valve.
Giants: Nabers is the alpha. Likely sits right behind him in target share — real TE volume if Dart has to throw. Skattebo is eating most of New York’s early opportunity share and is the receiving back Nagy wants. Mooney is the listed slot starter; the early target share has not caught up, so he is depth, not a featured lean. If Banks/McFadden are dinged, Nabers’s ceiling rises; if Thomas is limited, expect more Skattebo/Likely checkdowns and fewer deep shots.
ATTRACTIVE PROPS (LEANS, NOT THE CARD)
No moneyline. No total. We do not have a measured edge on either, so we are not inventing a “prediction” for the final score. The attractive board tonight is the player map.
Best look — Cam Skattebo over 10.5 receiving yards (five books; related over 1.5 receptions also clears). Model around 67% vs a coin-flip market — roughly 16–17 percentage points. Role first: Nagy’s receiving back, big early opportunity share, and the checkdown path gets cleaner if Thomas or the pocket is shaky.
Conditional — Davante Adams under 66.5 receiving yards (five books) only if Nacua is active. Model about 32% to clear that line. If Puka is inactive, this lean is dead — Adams becomes the primary outside target.
Secondary — Isaiah Likely under 45.5 receiving yards (five books). Model about 39% vs ~50% market. He will get targets; clearing 45.5 still needs more Giants passing than their early neutral-script habits suggest. Kill it if New York is chasing by the half.
Pass: Dart passing yards under is research-only (~9pp). Stafford passing yards is a coin flip. Leave both alone.
One pregame update rewrites the whole list: Nacua ruled out.
SHOWDOWN, SHORT VERSION
One game. DraftKings Showdown. Group 153449. Do not mix these salaries with the classic Mon–Thu slate.
Nacua active: start with Nacua or Stafford at Captain. Stack Stafford with Adams or Kyren when you want the correlated Rams path. Nacua will be chalk. That does not make him wrong.
Nacua out: Adams and Stafford move to the front of the line. Parkinson at $3,600 is the cheap Rams piece that frees Captain salary. Do not keep a Nacua projection on an inactive.
Giants side: Dart–Nabers or Dart–Skattebo if you want the road stack. Tracy at $3,400 is the clearest salary relief in the pool — our projection likes him more than the field ownership does. Likely is priced like a featured piece; treat him like a role player unless you are specifically fading chalk. Mooney is the cheap route runner if you need a FLEX flier after locking Dart.
Kickers and defenses here are roster math, not a projection claim.
BEFORE KICKOFF
Wait on Nacua. Then build.
The market already said Los Angeles is the better team in a mid-40s script. Our work is the player map inside that: who gets the first look, which props have a role story, which Showdown builds survive the inactive list. Open the optimizer for the live pool. Treat every number here as a starting point, not a finished ticket.
